The 5th Caddies Welfare Trust’s edition of the popular caddies inter-club invitational was held on Wednesday, 10th January 2024 and attracted 81 entries from 19 golf clubs, across the north of India, from Kashmir to Rajasthan.
This was the first time this event was held at the Qutab Golf Club, who generously extended the use of their wonderful golf course and practice facilities.
CWT are delighted to announce that going forward they will be annually providing Life Insurance, dry rations and winter clothing for the 230+ caddies of Qutab Golf Club. CWT’s effort to spread their work to other clubs, as well as to encourage Clubs and their members to set up similar initiatives is gathering momentum Pan India as was originally conceived by the Trustees. The Trust is especially grateful to the members of the Delhi Golf Club who contribute Rs. 500/- each p.a. towards CWT’s annual operating budget. Similarly, members of the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata and other Clubs have set up independent Trusts, to which members also contribute Rs. 500/- annually.
Trustee Maj. RS Bedi explained what the Trust does to the participating caddies, encouraging them to return to their own clubs and share the details with management and inform them of CWT’s offer of assistance first hand. As is done for 300+ Delhi Golf Club caddies, things like Life & Medical Insurance, Eye & Dental care, clothing, consumer durables distribution, dry ration distributions, financial support for school and college going caddies kids, retirement benefits and job placement assistance for older kids of caddies were discussed.​

DLF Golf Club claimed the Gross Team Event with a total of 230 as well as the Overall Gross prize won by DLF’s Vinod (73). The plethora of trophies and cash prizes on offer including for Best Gross and Nett upto 10th position, Closest to the Pin/Longest Drive/Straightest Drive were graciously presented by the attending donors and well-wishers and the Secretary QGC, Col. Kohli. Mr. Pawan Munjal of HERO generously donated a HERO Passion Motor Bike for the Gross Winner, to the delighted caddy Vinod of DLF! Each player received a well stocked goody bag with a winter jacket, t-shirt, towel, wallet, mobile charger etc . Ms. Ishita Gupta gallantly ‘refereed’ the event, whilst the Qutab’s Golf Op’s, Course and F&B teams went all out to assist in the smooth conduct of the event.
